Becoming a YA

I've turned into a young adult once more. Have you heard of this series?

YA stands for Young Adult. I think I've reversed the hands of time and turned into one again. There is this series, which was about to debut last weekend that kept showing itself each time I tuned into AXN. The anime is based on a Manga of almost the same title and while I was flipping channels on the remote, I accidentally landed on Animax and the show was just starting.
Suffice to say, that I was blown away and shocked that I really liked it. Well, when I become obsessed, I become obsessed. So I had to ask the expert on young adulthood, my niece and learned that indeed I just caught the premiere and she's addicted too.

No idea what I'm talking about?
It's the newest series of Animax, shown on Sundays at 8:30. Manila,Philippines Time.(GMT+8)
It's MAIDSAMA!

Student council president, Misaki Ayuzawa, works part-time at a maid café which contradicts with her ‘no-nonsense, tough-talking’ reputation at her high school dominated by males. When her secret is discovered by Takumi Usui – the most popular guy in school – she is bewildered when he keeps it a secret but this is merely the start of his merciless teasing of her...

There's about 40+chapters of the manga, and it's just a new anime. I'm curious to how it ends. I feel as if I'm enjoying Hana Yori Dango all over again. I wouldn't mind if they turned this into a 'teleserye' or a tv series with human actors.

What about you? Have you seen this? Have you read it?

Turning into Kids Again

I am turning into a kid again. If you are one of those like me, a stay at home mom whose kids live and breathe the television and have no other television to spare. You would know that Mickey and Minnie celebrated their birthday last November 18. There was an 'honest' series of tv shows yesterday and that there's Alien Swarm (Ben 10) premieres on tv as of the moment. You would also know that there was a Disney Pixar Movie Magic back to back.

Finally, I got to watch Wall-E, a movie featured as top pick in Tuesday's Couch Potatoes.
I'm trying to post pictures. My pc won't allow me.
Oh well. I got to enjoy The Incredibles, Wall-E, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, just caught Monsters Inc. and got to introduce these characters to my kids.

Oh, High School Musical 3 is going to be shown on Dec.5. Plus every 2 pm on Monday to Friday you get to watch Disney Original Movies like Cadet Kelly, Princess Protection Program and so much more on Disney Channel.

TCP: Commander-in-Chief

Short and sweet: My pick for this one is when Harrison Ford plays the man of the hour, and the Commander-in-Chief. It's an old movie that gets shown in reruns at AXN sometimes. I liked that he was the man of the hour. He didn't succumb to pressure. Glenn Close as the VP here was amazing for me. The story is Air Force One is hijacked, in it is the President and his immediate family (wife and child). Gary Oldman is an amazing villain. Plus, the child gives quick quips as dialogue!

You see the sacrifice people will willingly do for a President as well. It's a great plot with a lot of twists and turns. The amazing part is the President is the one who tried to save everyone else. My favorite scene would be when the fighter jet says it has become Air Force One.

Note: I also like Commander-in-Chief the tv series. It's about a woman as a president. Geena Davis is great in this series. Donald Sutherland as the ambitious Speaker of the House is amazing as well which gives the series its depth and twists. I like how she became the President. The incumbent President gets an aneurysm, and is debilitated. The incumbent asks her to step aside since she's an independent and wants the speaker of the House to become the President. It's just great. She met obstacles from all sides but still emerged as president.

New Discoveries I

Harper's IslandImage by 囧-WQ-囧 via Flickr
I apologize for not being able to join Girls Talk, I know all the other girls had great answers (I bloghopped and read their entries). Honestly, I couldn't think of anything that girls can do and boys can't. Why? In comparison, my hubby can do anything better than I ever can, except mastery of the English language (his pronunciation falls into an accent from his province), other than that he's totally better than me.

Just sharing some new discoveries of mine again. It may be old news to you, but it's new to me, so you can skip this post if you are not ready for a long read.

One of my new discoveries is the tv show Harper's Island. I saw one of the previews in Studio23, honestly, it piqued my curiosity. I love mysteries, serial killers, whodunit stuff. I came across it again in a deebeedee shop ( yes, pirata po ako but not all the time) so I just had to have it. I checked the cover and it really caught my attention. Besides the actor as someone I really like in Medical Investigation, Jake 2.0 and recently in Ugly Betty, I liked the rest of the cast as well, since 2 of them were casts in Supernatural.

The story is simple, yet riveting. Abby Mills is going back to Harper's Island because his bestfriend (Henry) is marrying the girl of his dreams (Trish). 7 years ago, there was a serial killer in the island who killed 6 people by hanging them on a tree. Others were decapitated with a headspade (something used to decapitate whales) and others killed and tortured in many different ways.

The story begins a boat in Seattle, as the wedding party waits and assembles before heading off to Harper's Island. Immediately, one is missing (Cousin Ben) and you discover that he is tied under the boat beside the ships propeller. Victim number one is soon dead. As the story progresses, more and more are getting killed. By the 6th or 7th episode, you'd think that you got who the killer is, but then the main suspect dies and you are at a loss again as who is the real killer. All signs point to Abby as the reason why the killer is reliving the past.

I haven't finished the series, though my research of it got me in trouble since I know who the killer is now. But it's ok, since I'm still excited and I want to know why.

If you're into the suspense/thriller genre then I really suggest you catch this series on Studio 23 (if you're in the Philippines). It's worth watching. It's like " I Know what you did Last Summer" or " Scream" but instead of a short-lived movie, you've got a whole 13 episode series. It's a one-time run only (meaning, it only has 1 season) but if there was going to be a different series like Harper's Island, I'd be sure to try and watch it again.

TV Shows I'm Looking Forward to

Clip above: If it's there: It's of One Tree Hill.
I just got caught up reading about new stuff that's going to happen.
Well, I also learned that Lucas and Peyton aren't in the series anymore.
Hmm.
No biggie for me, since I love Brooke more.

You don't know who Brooke Davis is?

MovieWeb - Movie Photos, Videos & More

That's Brooke Davis, with Julian - finally, the man who deserves her.

Clip below: Winchester Boys kicking a**.
It's from the series with the title: Supernatural.
I just love these brothers.
Plus, it gets a lot interesting now since Lucifer is on earth and All h*** breaks loose.

Thursday 13: My Guilty Pleasures on Tv

”thursday-13″

Thursday 13 is a meme of lists, as far as I know.
Well, I guess if there's anyday to pick out and make my own lists, why not today?
So what am I in the mood to list?
Well, there was a topic on ten on tuesday that I really wanted to do, so why do it today and make it 13.
I shall now divulge my greatest/guiltiest tv pleasures of all time in random order of course.
1. X-Files - is most remembered for the team up of the one who firmly believes in Science and one who firmly believes in the paranormal. Mulder and Scully paved the way for me into the world of the supernatural. It had such honesty, I love their arguments and premises.
2. Gilmore Girls - I loved their banter, though I never got to know how the series ended. Of course, I can always go to tv.com or buy the dvds but then I think I gave up when she went back to her hubby Christopher and when a new guy came into the life of Rory. I wanted Rory to end up with Peter Petrelli (oh wait, his name is... Milo Ventimiglia). Or Sam Winchester who was Dean in Gilmore Girls. I wanted Lorelei to end with Luke. I'll check out how the story ended later.
3. Since I've mentioned the guys, how can I not say that I love Heroes! Yes, it is reminiscent of x-men, mutant x etc, but they took it in such a new level, with much higher standards! And I have to admit, I love Peter Petrelli, the most human of all characters second to Hiro Nakamura.

4. I'm still in Sci-fi mode so why not throw in the most gorgeous hunks in this division for me. Winchester boys of Supernatural! They're just so hot! hot! hot! and I like that they cry even if they're so macho. The difficulties that they face. I'm so looking forward to how the next season begins. It's just so scary because Lucifer has risen.
5. For more boys that I like, One Tree Hill Rocks! added factor of course is that Moira Kelly is part of the cast so she's actually the reason why I watched the series in the first place. I love the twist that Lucas Scott and Nathan Scott are half-brothers in the same school, the rich jock and the poor guy. Of course, I'm always rooting for Brooke and Lucas but then people don't get what they want and well, I've accepted Julian as the one for Brooke.
6. Felicity - is an old series that you may or may not remember. I love this one because she followed him to college, the only guy she ever liked. The guy was played by Scott Speedman. oh wait, now I remember...Ben. Plus, an added factor to this one is one of the official sound tracks of the series was sung by our very own Viktoria. Viktoria is a singer from the Philippines who sang "To be Near You."
7.  For a tv addict like me, why do I feel like I'm running out of Favorites? er.... let me recheck my memory.
I'm absolutely sure I had many. Hmm. Ok, I guess it's time to admit that I have one particular series that I        really love and it's all variations of a single anime. So does that count as one or 3 series?   I'm referring to
Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flowers/Meteor Garden. I can talk about them for a long time but I'm    trying to keep this entry short. It's about F4 and a girl whose name means 'weed' - the simplest version.
8.  Smallville - ahh..Clark Kent and his struggles into being Superman. What more can I say? An undying love for Lana Lang.or wait, has he hooked up with Lois yet? Plus, they're now becoming Justice League so I think its cool.
9. Chuck - I love his character. So much fun and a geek cutie. I love the triangle of Bryce-Sara-Chuck. Is season 3 out already?
10. House - this is the only medical drama/comedy that I like. Hugh Laurie is amazing with the character plus the character is so unique and original." Everybody lies." Plus the mind games are just amazing. You can't guess what his motivations are.
11. I decided to peruse my shelf. Numbers is for hubby then I remembered... Vampires! True Blood!!! How could I forget? So stupid of me. Sookie, Bill and Eric. I read the books too. Addictions and Obsessions all rolled into this show.
12. All the CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) from Vegas, to Miami, to New York! It's the one show that unites me and hubby against our kids. There's a weekend showing that goes back to back to back with each other and my kids are always trying to pry the remote from us.
13. Last, but certainly not the least, Veronica Mars. Who has the character that I most loved, second to Domyouji Tsukasa, Logan. Logan who said: " I think we have a choice. I think we could take a tough, but survivable amount of pain now, or stay together and deal with unbearable pain later. So I vote for the pain now. " I just wish they gave this one a fourth season so that I knew if they will end up together.

Something I look forward to on Tv

While waiting for Amazing Race Asia to come along and suffering since we don't have AXN-Beyond, I encountered this tv show. I was totally blown away. I love Magic tricks and so does Hubby. But learning how to do the magic tricks gives me even more respect to the one who thought out the details of the trick or the engineers (so I've learned from 'The Prestige'). It's just pure genius and amazing.

Yes, this show shows/reveals/unravels the mystery of all the tricks. The revelations are done by a Masked Magician since he is said to be "Breaking the Magician's Code" - that "  A magician should never reveal how he does his trick." Some tricks done by David Blaine, Criss Angel, David Copperfield and the famous milkcan trick of Harry Houdini himself were revealed. Tricks like levitation, walking on a swimming pool, changing a Bentley into a Jaguar, making a string quartet disappear, making models with very tall boots disappear in seconds are just a few of the tricks revealed.

To me, it doesn't matter much that the trick is exposed, I'd still appreciate going and watching to a live magic show and still be amazed. It's knowing that it is just a trick and that at least I know a little or I may begin to imagine how the trick was done.

I'm more interested to find out about the mind reading magicians. Can they really read your mind?

Who is your favorite Magician? Do you believe in Magic?

My favorite magician is David Blaine, even if I've read the ebook of how he does his tricks, his performance always amazes me. My stand on Magic is simple. Earth is a big place, there still might be magic, untapped, or undiscovered or just purely unknown to me. Nature itself is Magic, there's got to be a lot more out there.
