Mommy Moments: Look at that Mess!

This is our living room after my kids will make their havoc! The living room is our play area with rubber mats and all. You'll get tired picking up after them. So I've devised a strategy, I let them do all that they want, then start cleaning when they've taken a nap. So at least it gets a little neater. I forgot to take pictures of the walls, they've been using everything they could get their little hands on, from crayons to watercolor pastels and even pencils and pentel pens. Plus our couch is full of ballpen marks. Even if I insist that they use paper and not the walls, when I let my attention roam for even just a few minutes, wah... disaster happens. Does this reflect badly on my parenting style? I really don't know.

Thursday 13: My Guilty Pleasures on Tv

”thursday-13″

Thursday 13 is a meme of lists, as far as I know.
Well, I guess if there's anyday to pick out and make my own lists, why not today?
So what am I in the mood to list?
Well, there was a topic on ten on tuesday that I really wanted to do, so why do it today and make it 13.
I shall now divulge my greatest/guiltiest tv pleasures of all time in random order of course.
1. X-Files - is most remembered for the team up of the one who firmly believes in Science and one who firmly believes in the paranormal. Mulder and Scully paved the way for me into the world of the supernatural. It had such honesty, I love their arguments and premises.
2. Gilmore Girls - I loved their banter, though I never got to know how the series ended. Of course, I can always go to tv.com or buy the dvds but then I think I gave up when she went back to her hubby Christopher and when a new guy came into the life of Rory. I wanted Rory to end up with Peter Petrelli (oh wait, his name is... Milo Ventimiglia). Or Sam Winchester who was Dean in Gilmore Girls. I wanted Lorelei to end with Luke. I'll check out how the story ended later.
3. Since I've mentioned the guys, how can I not say that I love Heroes! Yes, it is reminiscent of x-men, mutant x etc, but they took it in such a new level, with much higher standards! And I have to admit, I love Peter Petrelli, the most human of all characters second to Hiro Nakamura.
Scrapandlo by: Flergalicious
4. I'm still in Sci-fi mode so why not throw in the most gorgeous hunks in this division for me. Winchester boys of Supernatural! They're just so hot! hot! hot! and I like that they cry even if they're so macho. The difficulties that they face. I'm so looking forward to how the next season begins. It's just so scary because Lucifer has risen.
5. For more boys that I like, One Tree Hill Rocks! added factor of course is that Moira Kelly is part of the cast so she's actually the reason why I watched the series in the first place. I love the twist that Lucas Scott and Nathan Scott are half-brothers in the same school, the rich jock and the poor guy. Of course, I'm always rooting for Brooke and Lucas but then people don't get what they want and well, I've accepted Julian as the one for Brooke.
6. Felicity - is an old series that you may or may not remember. I love this one because she followed him to college, the only guy she ever liked. The guy was played by Scott Speedman. oh wait, now I remember...Ben. Plus, an added factor to this one is one of the official sound tracks of the series was sung by our very own Viktoria. Viktoria is a singer from the Philippines who sang "To be Near You."
7.  For a tv addict like me, why do I feel like I'm running out of Favorites? er.... let me recheck my memory.
I'm absolutely sure I had many. Hmm. Ok, I guess it's time to admit that I have one particular series that I        really love and it's all variations of a single anime. So does that count as one or 3 series?   I'm referring to
Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flowers/Meteor Garden. I can talk about them for a long time but I'm    trying to keep this entry short. It's about F4 and a girl whose name means 'weed' - the simplest version.
8.  Smallville - ahh..Clark Kent and his struggles into being Superman. What more can I say? An undying love for Lana Lang.or wait, has he hooked up with Lois yet? Plus, they're now becoming Justice League so I think its cool.
9. Chuck - I love his character. So much fun and a geek cutie. I love the triangle of Bryce-Sara-Chuck. Is season 3 out already?
10. House - this is the only medical drama/comedy that I like. Hugh Laurie is amazing with the character plus the character is so unique and original." Everybody lies." Plus the mind games are just amazing. You can't guess what his motivations are.
11. I decided to peruse my shelf. Numbers is for hubby then I remembered... Vampires! True Blood!!! How could I forget? So stupid of me. Sookie, Bill and Eric. I read the books too. Addictions and Obsessions all rolled into this show.
12. All the CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) from Vegas, to Miami, to New York! It's the one show that unites me and hubby against our kids. There's a weekend showing that goes back to back to back with each other and my kids are always trying to pry the remote from us.
13. Last, but certainly not the least, Veronica Mars. Who has the character that I most loved, second to Domyouji Tsukasa, Logan. Logan who said: " I think we have a choice. I think we could take a tough, but survivable amount of pain now, or stay together and deal with unbearable pain later. So I vote for the pain now. " I just wish they gave this one a fourth season so that I knew if they will end up together.

A Bunch Of Stupid Questions By Kimber

Kimber, the number 14 and the color of life. (2 questions by Ber, figure out which 2.)

1. You are in an enclosed space with a group of friends. Elevator, auto, small room, etc.. You fart and it really stinks. Do you take credit for it or do you play along with the questioning of who did it?
Play along first, probably admit it in the end, though I'm sure I'll die of mortification.

2. You are locked in a room sitting at a desk with just a piece of paper and a purple crayon. What do you draw?
I can't really draw, probably a stick figure or a cloud outline.

3. Do you ever pee in the shower?
     NO.

4. Have you bought, sold or got rid of something on Craigslist?
No, I have at ebay though.

5. You are in a convenience store. In the line in front of you is a drunk guy trying to purchase more alcohol. The cashier tells him they cannot sell it to him because he is obviously already intoxicated. He gets belligerent. The cashier is scared. What do you do?
Pretend I'm with him and buy it for him already.

6. While shopping for produce, do you "sample" before you buy (i.e. grapes)?
    No.

7. You are walking down the street and there is a toddler sitting on a bench by themselves in front of a store - do you just keep walking?
I'll usually talk to the toddler and most likely ask where's his/her mommy?

8. Have you looked up an old friend and/or lover online?
Mostly old friends. lover is just too strong a word to define the other relationships.

9. You are nearly in a car/auto accident. Do you freak out, follow the person who nearly caused it & talk to them or just keep going?
I wouldn't know how I'd react to this one since I've never been into one. Most likely I'll follow the lead of those with me.

Playing Favorites

SAN FRANCISCO - MAY 3: Robin Williams and Bon...Image by Getty Images via Daylife
No, this isn't a mommy post. This post is about my all-time addictions before I got started on blogging and digital scrapbooking. I'm talking about television and movies. I was more of the visual person than auditory, heck, what am I saying?! I love the tv more than anything. I can go on and on and on and on about it. Then I got to thinking. I've never really talked about my favorite actor. Tv actors of course are of a different category from those of my favorite movie actors.
Let me think.

If I were to give out awards for my favorites, the Best of Best Awards would be for no other than Robin Williams. He is my number one favorite male actor. I know I could have said Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt and even Robert Pattinson but no one can make me feel the part being played as much as Robin William does. My favorite movie of his is What Dreams May Come. I love how he played his role of a man who has gone to heaven but then went to hell to get his wife.  My second BoB Awards for best male actor would go to Sean Penn, Yenz reminded me of how much I loved his potrayal of Sam in I am Sam.

If you were to hand out awards? Who would you give it to? What about Blog Awards?
I know this is presumptuous of me, but Please nominate me in the Best of the Best Awards.
Super thanks.

The Queen's Meme: The Cooking Meme

The Cooking Meme (What Is The Meaning of Thyme and Other Deep Questions)

1. If you could put thyme in a bottle, what is the first thing that you'd like to do?
Research on its possible uses, combinations, if it's a herbal remedy or just plain used for cooking.

2. Do eggs really crack or do they merely have a nervous breakdown?
This one is an egg that cracked and had a nervous breakdown. Is this a trick question?

3. Why are you whipping the butter? What did it ever do to you?
I don't whip, I most likely whisk! But then I don't bake, so why are we talking about it?

4. Do your spoons spoon in the drawer? Have you ever noticed? And more importantly, if wooden spoons spoon do they get splinters?
They're not in drawers, they're in spoon organizers, they still spoon though. As for the wooden spoons, well they should know better than to spoon with each other.
5. You hear: "Dumpling, my Dumpling, come hither." The candles are lit, the fondue is dipping, the Godiva is pouring, the scallions are steaming and the music is playing.....but wait, the windows are open.
Why did you close them?
The rain might come in, it's a bit stormy in our area nowadays.

6. Do you need a recipe to cook or are you a bohemian chef? Show us your reckless and wild side in the kitchen. Don't have one? Here's a recipe I made just for you: You will need a spatula, a whisk, a gallon of Chardonnay, a banana and a rump roast. What is the name of your dish?
Bananarama. I'm more of a recipe dependent then wing it after kind of cook.

7. After dinner, the dishes are so dirty that the dishwasher refuses to wash them.
What did they say to get in hot water?
What did what say to whom? I'm dizzy from the Chardonnay.

8. Is your pot black?
Absolutely not, it's stainless silver. Were you asking about the bottom of my pot?

9. What is the sexiest spice or condiment in your cabinet? What makes it so?
I am not sure if it qualifies, maple syrup for pancakes. So tasty and syrupy... plus you can do a lot of things with it, if you use your imagination.

10. How much crock is really in your crock pot?
Half-crock crock pot. Left over, from harry potpot.

Of Cliparts and Images

I must admit, I am now totally addicted to searching for cliparts, kits, templates, quickpages, and did I say cliparts and illustrations already? I'm finding it therapeutic for me. It's my way of relaxing after a long, hard day of chasing kids around, bellowing at the top of my lungs, and well playing 'horse' and piggy back rides.

I'll just give you a few of my favorites... so far.

Do you see my RSS dolly? She's that one up there. It's me holding Twilight, and a black cat curled near my foot. I think she's adorable. Twilight - because I'm addicted to any and all things vampire, the black cat because that is my favorite animal in the whole wide world, even if we don't have it as a pet. If you find this button on my blog, please click it to subscribe to my blog. She was drawn  by Emila.

Then there's Wendy, who is responsible for my blog header graphic and the graphic above. This clipart is a depiction of my family. Nope, you're not going to find the link here. I want to keep my header as much as I can, but if you say please, well then sure, just holler at me!

I also found a cute site for free cliparts and what do you know the site's name is www.cutecolors.com. I'm thinking of getting one of their multipurpose lists and posting one here. Just to make myself a list of my obsessions. Which I don't think I need reminding of... so that idea is on hold.

There's one more artist that I really like, her works are sometimes dark and melancholic and sometimes happy. I really like the new sets she made. Her works are really Gorjuss! Specially the tubes. I really really like the one she has that is entitled as 'daughters'. I just wish she had an illustration of a daughter and a son with a mom, that would be just perfect!

Thanks for reading. Leave a comment! I love comments!

A post about Giveaways!

For the most part of my blogging life, I have always loved giveaways. The lure of winning something by random, by pure chance or through the luck of the draw is fun and appealing to me. In fact, I repeat and stress, I won this wonderful domain of mine by pure luck through Calvin's blog. For that, I will be forever grateful and I will forever repeat his name in my blogs. I still remember it, I started blogging in May and he gave my prize on October 1. Just a few months when I started blogging and I couldn't believe it.
So my topic for today is Giveaways/Contests.
I refer to them loosely as both, giveaways or contests to me are the same. Some you have to do more than just post a link, others just by submitting your name and email. Whatever they are, the pure and plainest concept is this, with a little effort, you get something for free, which, in these times, means a lot.
I love free full version software specially if I can obtain it legally. I mean, it's free licensed software and it's not opensource.
As of the moment, there's only one site I know that gives these away.
Giveaway of the Day
Game Giveaway of the Day
Some of the wonderful software/programs running and installed in my pc is from this marvelous site.
My favorites are mostly from Wondershare. Amazing photo collage collection and a make my own slide show program.
They've given away cd/dvd rippers , music converters, pdf to word and so much more.
Not only do they give free licensed software they also give free licensed games everyday!
More on other kinds of giveaways in the next post.

Sunday Stealing: Leave it to Meme

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger known as Kyddryn from Shadow and Sweetwater. She claims she stole it from someone on Facebook. But, it was probably stolen there as well. Touch a Blogger: Tie a Yellow Ribbon

My fellow bloggers, I invite you to Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino! Very simply:
  1. Create an entry entitled: Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino!. A link to this original entry will be appreciated, but is not required.
  2. Post a yellow ribbon in your blog for President Cory Aquino. Whatever form of yellow ribbon that your creative imagination can come up with.
  3. Invite other bloggers to tie a yellow ribbon for Cory.
President Cory Aquino has done a lot for us Filipinos. She’s suffered more than enough. I might not agree with some of the things that she has done but that is beside the point. My respect is unconditional and I will thank this great woman for the biggest and most valuable gift that she has given us Filipinos – giving back our freedom and liberty. And as a blogger, there is not much that I can do, other than offer prayers for Cory Aquino.

I have the utmost respect for President Cory Aquino as the First ever Female President. So, I saw this in Pehpot's Blog and I just had to grab it.

Mommy Moments: First Steps

The Story behind the photos:

Maegan tried to start walking when she was more than 1. But before she was 1, she was already talking and well, according to superstitious grandparents, not to worry because you can't do both at the same time or something to that effect. Anyways, Maegan was really babied. Always carried. Almost never let off by herself so when she grew a little, she keeps on insisting her independence. We started her with a walker, as you see in the picture. But soon enough, she started walking on her own.

Paul has a different story. Even before he turned 11 months, he would stand inside the crib. He would run around it. Trying to hold the edges or shoot his fingers through the net so he can move around the crib. When he gets tired, he crawls. I have a theory that Paul was just so challenged by the fact that his sister could go where she pleased that he had to do it too. He started to walk by feeling his way around the sofa and grasped everything he could so he could walk.  Before he was 1, he could walk a few steps. On his first birthday, he was walking around his party. It was just fun and so encouraging.

I seriously had to search high and low for these photos. It was so much fun though. At least, when I lose them or it gets old, hopefully I can go back to this blog and see them all again.

New Interests

So, besides blogging, digiscrapping, and having a healthy interest in giveaways and contests around the web. I am now very much interested in earning money online. That bug bit me too!

Right now, I am in the process of setting up 2 other blogs. Oh my! Where will I find the time. I've read around and it's really, actually better if I do start separating my interests. Or at least categorizing them.
This blog will always remain a mixed blog. Hopefully by starting the other blogs which have .info domain names since that one's on sale and is totally cheap at godaddy, and armed with the tutorials from Amanda I can be fairly able to start posting 2 new blogs.

I actually got those domains last February and so such a waste of time with them being idle and sitting around. Instead of becoming productive, traffic generating and hopefully money earners. Or just plain informative.

I won a domain hosting from name.com through a simple blog contest that I joined - so I now have 4 domains. 3 .infos and 1 .com. Not bad, right?

I just finished customizing them by publishing my blogs to those domains.

So far, I think I can only manage 2, but we'll see. The one from name.com is just too pricey for me to continue when the domain renewal comes up.

I am just hoping that like this one, the other 2 blogs I'm planning to set up would be able to fend for themselves and help them earn their own renewal fees.

Have you guessed what my 2 other blogs are going to be about?

Well, the first one which has the title of Just Keep Trying is just that, my efforts in earning money online and/or more blog contests. I wrote an entry to this site, tell me what you think.

The other one, would be purely blog contests since I was lucky enough to secure the domain, www.blogcontestsonline.info.

So what do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea? Too time consuming?
I am just hoping I could work it out in between raising 2 rambunctious kids.

Thursday Thunks: July 23 edition

It's the July 23rd version and I can't think of a catchy title

Welcome to the July 23rd version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Berleen, the number 22 and the color of the last road kill you saw.

1. You walk into a store and the cashier is being held up by a robber. The robber's accomplice is dead on the floor at your feet with a shotgun laying next to him. The robber does not see you, but the cashier does - what do you do?
I'm not sure if I'll be brave enough to get a shotgun and point it at the robber. What if the robber shoots the cashier? I can easily verbally abuse someone but hold a gun? I'd probably be as quiet as a mouse or hope to God that the cashier has another shotgun with him.

2. We go to an ice cream shop for an ice cream cone. You say you are buying and I am going to stay in the car. You ask me what I want and I say "surprise me", what kind of ice cream cone am I going to get?
Sugarfree ice cream with tons of sprinkles, marshmallows and all the toppings I can get.(edit - hopefully sugarfree toppings as well, for sure there's sugarfree syrup)

3. You have a dream that your co-worker, friend or whoever is hit by a garbage truck after they back into a ladder with a black cat on it. The next day you see that person standing by a ladder with a black cat on it and there is a garbage truck driving down the road.... what do you do?
Shout for whoever to get out of the way, run to whoever, push whoever from the ladder - whichever of these works.

4. What is the most money you've won on a lottery or scratch off ticket?
None yet. I won once a cellphone in a raffle though, does that count?

5. A neighbor kid down the street comes to your door and offers to wash all of your windows outside for $10 - do you have him do it?
At that rate, here in our country? No. That's too expensive, even if we do have tons of windows.

6. Go to Google Images. Type in the name of the last movie you saw. Post the first picture that comes up.

I can't post it right but it's The Bourne Ultimatum in HBO.

7. Your local animal shelter calls you and says there are 3 dogs that need an immediate foster home for 3 days. If you do not accept, the dogs are put down that day. Do you take them in?
You should ask my mom, though we already have 6 dogs and a couple of fishes.

8. What is the messiest room in your home?
My room! Always and Forever!

9. Have you ever been to a wedding that participated in a strange tradition that you had never heard of?
None as of yet. My mom has however.

10. Name one sport that you just don't get.
Criquet? Croquet? uhmm..what was it again?

11. What was the last email that came into your inbox about?
Someone wanting to add me in flixster.

12. Have you ever purchased anything from a sex shop? Extra points if you tell us what it was....
The answer is no. Sorry to disappoint.

13. Go back to that Google Images link... type in the last food item that you ate. Post the 2nd picture it comes up with.

14. Got any bumper stickers on your vehicle? What are they? Nope. Nada. Zilch.

15. What meme question do you wish was never asked again?

Haven't encountered a question I wouldn't want to answer... yet.

Life Made Easy

Crayola crayons, 24 pack, 2005.

My daughter can say the words "I'm bored." When she does, I start to panic. I take out activity books, crayons, story books, and others, but then she turns to me and says she wants to play with scissors or make something. Lucky for me, I can go online and browse sites that have some activities or ideas that I can do with my daughter. I've become so dependent on the internet. One of the sites that caught my eye, because of the wide expanse of things that they can offer for me and with a very catcy catch phrase. Life Made Easy Videos from Ivillage. Here, I got to see videos and one particular video that caught my eye was the ice cream cake. Yum! It's just a 2 minute video but wow! I didn't know that an ice cream cake could be that easy, healthy and a great activity to do with my kids. I can just imagine all the licking that's going to be happening when we start with the icecream.
Or if I want to do an easy dinner, Top Chef Arian Duarte even shared her topsecret recipe to a very yummy steak sauce, ingredients are so easy to find, just go to your nearest Walmart. All the food items/ingredients that were shown are all available in Walmart. How convenient is that!
Out of gift ideas? Check out their Stuff We Love section. So convenient, with pricing and information as to why that gift is the best for your intended. They also have craft sections and everything else that a busy mom like me needs. You Can See More Life Made Easy Videos Here, like absolutely anything and everything that can make your life a whole lot easier.

Going Online Shopping!

Purses, such as this one by Burberry, can be a...Image via Wikipedia
It's July! Most of the malls and the scrapbook community are going on mid-year sale! It's time to pull that Christmas list out of my box. That list is going to be long and I sure hope I can find something nice for each and everyone on that list. This early, I'm pretty sure I'll be concentrating on giving away bags.
For starters, my mom is a bag hag. She has 2 closets full of bags, mostly given to her, some she JUST HAD TO HAVE. My mom just loves bags. I told her that she wouldn't be able to use all of them even if she changed her bag everyday. She needs a bag that isn't a tote, maybe a designer handbag. Well, I love browsing online and I found out that there's a site that gives intelligent suggestions as to narrow down what you may want to buy. It finds everything and anything for sale in the web with just your search query. ShopWiki does it for me. An example of this would be, if I wanted to buy a backpack for my son, I get a buying guide, comparison, where to get more bang for my money, and all the sites that it is sold plus suggestions too. Same goes to buying luggage, whether its for kids, adult, rolling lugages, upright luggages, they do the classification and gives great suggestions.
So let me check.
  • a designer handbag for my mom : to add to her collection
  • a backpack for my son: when he goes to school next year
  • a laptop bag for hubby: for the laptop he wants my cousin to send him
  • a luggage  for maegan: for the field trip next year.
I've completed my immediate family list. What about you? Have you started? Now, I just have to think of more gift ideas for my hubby's family... and the rest of the relatives. I'm off to ShopWiki again, maybe I'll go look at their gift ideas section. I have 10 in-laws excluding the parent-in-laws. What would be economical and practical?

The Queen's Meme: Mission Impossible

tThe Queen's Meme No. 2 ~ Mission Impossible

The Mission Impossible Meme

Lift off!

1. You are a guest on the space shuttle. You just arrived on the moon and realize you forgot something back home that you can't live without. What is it and how do you convince them to go back and fetch it?
My glucometer. I need it to check my blood sugar. They wouldn't want me to die in outerspace, would they? Unless of course all the meals are sugarfree.

2. Pretend you are a teacher in a rough public school for one day. You have been assigned to teach Manners 101. You have the "challenging bad butt kids" class (remember this is a pretend school and anyway I can't say ass on my blog 'cause it's so unQueenly and I might get fined or something).
They are jumping up and down, cursing, and throwing things at you.
What is the first thing you would write on the board?
I'm lifting the scene from Dangerous Minds with a few revisions of my own. Scratch a nail on the board to make an ear piercing noise. Then write on the board, " I ______ to die."
Ask the class to fill the blank with a verb.

3. Someone in your family or a friend has started a blog. They think it is anonymous but you have figured it out. They are saying derogatory things about you. Do you tell them or do you read it for awhile?
How would you handle it?
Read and discover what is it about me that is being written about. I'll check if that blog's traffic is better than mine. If it is, then I make another blog of myself with all the derogatory things about me. lol!

4. If you had one dollar left in your pocket, what would you spend it on?
Food! I'm a lazy glutton.

5. President Obama and the First Lady are coming over for dinner. What do you serve?
Chicken and Pork Adobo, Native Rice cakes, and my specialty Carbonara.

6. You walk in on your lover. They are trying on your clothes. What do you do?
Ask where's the costume party? Or is he reminiscing the time when he had to wear girl clothes and dance to spice girls when we were freshmen in college?

7. Every astronaut must have shots! Choose your vaccination: You only get one and you can't enjoy any of the attributes of the other choices. You choose either: (1) The fountain of eternal youth and sexual vigor but only for 10 years (2) perfect health for a lifetime (3) eternal mind-numbing nirvana and peace of mind (4) unlimited hedonism for one year with no negative consequences.
This is a no-brainer for me. Perfect health for a lifetime. Just because. But wait, if I pick number 1, do I die after 10 years? just asking.
