Got a Pixel?

There are digital scrapbooking sites and then there are Digital Scrapbooking Sites.
All of you who love digiscrapping surely have a list of stores that you frequent and love. Besides digifree, creative busy hands, lori's freebie list and others. I frequent sites that are stores which actually ask you to pay them. Yes, once in a while, I can not resist a truly great deal. I think I already made a list a long time ago about how to find free stuff in digiscrapping. But then maybe not, so I'll probably do it again a little later.

This is not a paid post. I am just a fan of this site and I just feel a sense of pride since I've read this designer's blog and I just can not wait to share what I discovered.

One of my favorites Digital Scrapbooking Sites has a designer that sounded familiar to me. What's more is that particular designer is going on an anniversary sale right now. So, if you're a friend, a fan, interested in digital scrapbooking, you should head on out to Gotta Pixel right now and avail of the discounts and the sale by the designer Mye de Leon.

Mye de Leon, if I'm not mistaken is also the blogger/author of Blog Appetite and Home and Parenting.

What about you? Got a favorite designer? Scrapbooking site? Watch out for the list that I'm making for digiscrap fanatics like me.

A Twilight Challenge

I'm trying to join this Twilight scrapping challenge to win a Twilight kit. I'm really a cheapskate. Actually, I'm trying to distract myself from the terror and paranoia that the storms are causing to our family. Our house is a 1-storey bungalow. I am imagining the horror of fleeing to the roof and hoping to God that I can jump from the roof to our neighbor's 5-storey house.

So, I came up with this. All paper and elements courtesy of Miss Honey and WordArt by Bethany

I'm still figuring out how to upload it to the gallery of a forum.

I feel stupid doing it.

An attempt at...

I'm trying to do this.... and hopefully be good enough to recreate this for some of my friends as gifts, probably for Christmas! So if you're a friend, don't read this or else, you might know what you'll receive as a gift! (LOL!)

So which one looks better? Is it a great idea? I saw one used as name frames and that's where I got the concept. This is what I came up with. I have to find better and fat fonts though?

I had fun making it. I am now finally learning a few tricks. Thanks to the internet.

So what do you think? I really need your input on this.

Layouts and Cliparts!

One of the things I'm trying to learn doing is digital scrapbooking. I am definitely not a professional. I don't have an eye for it. I envy a lot of creative people. Let's just say it's one of my frustrations so hey, I wanna learn. I taught my husband once how to playaround in photoshop and he definitely did things better. Unfortunately for me, he didn't know what he clicked so he could teach me.
Most of my papers, elements and others are from those who give away their work for free. But then, there's just a few that really catches my eye and the obsession kicks in and I buy. Though I try to use every possible advantage given to me, like discount coupon when you sign up or subscribe to their newsletter, etc.
For the first layout here, I got the photomasks for free and I had to google how to use a photomask. I even try to download templates but don't really know how to put the paper on the part of the template that I want. Anybody know a good mentor or a good site that can speak in simpler terms what to click? I don't understand merge layers, and a whole lot of other stuff. I just pray that it fits. Most of the time, I just wing it.
I just love the paper in the second one. This is one of my most recent acquisitions and I can't seem to remember clearly where I got it. I think it's from little dreamer designs by: with love by mushy. I bought it because of the watercolor effect of the paper. I find it so adorable. I'm going to post more pages of my attempts at scrapbooking if you don't mind.

To those who are interested or curious about my header. The image is a stock image that is being sold at a blogsite by an illustrator. Holler at me, if you really want to know the url and want to use it for yourself. I think the illustration is very pretty and well it's better than joining stockphotos, etc. because I can't afford those. (",)

In relation to my addiction to digital scrapbooking, I'm now into cliparts as well. Oh dear! and Oh no!

I found out that you can get to earn money through it too. So as of now, I'm signing up as an affiliate to tons of sites that I like ... well, they're practically related sites since they all share pages sometimes or their ads show up on each others. well, anyways, if you're into clipart, just click on the banner above or the banner below.I'm now an official reseller of clipart.

Interested in Digital Scrapbooking?

Are you like me, who has a little interest in digital scrapbooking?
If you are, do you know where to find some great free stuff?
I do.
The best sites that I found for free digital scrapbooking elements and papers :
  1. Digifree - where you see previews of the items that are given for free. It's really a search engine with free instant preview. As soon as you click on the image of the freebie you're interested in, it takes you to the site that offers the freebie. One simple rule though. It's free to download but you must at least thank the one who created and gave away the freebie. Plus, take note of the terms of use.
  2. Shabby Princess - is a site that gives away real and complete sets of freebies. She doesn't do it on a regular schedule, but you can always check her site. The papers and the elements are always amazing and beautiful.
  3. Creative Busy Hands Digital Scrapbooking Freebies Search - was that too long for you? Works just like Digifree. Some may be the same of those you'll find at digifree.
Need more ways to find something beautiful and free?
Here's how I do it when I have the time:
My favorite search engine is Google. What's yours? I opt for  a search in web or in blog. Type in blog train.
There, you'll find blog trains/convoys that is a collection of designers working on a particular theme and giving their beautiful work away. This is a great way to collect free digital papers and elements. Some blog trains happen when there's a particular holiday that is of interest to the scrapbook designer like Valentines or Christmas. Others have monthly blog trains. You should visit all those participating in the train/convoy. When you download, thank them. Bookmark the designers you really like, also when you visit their site, look for a search button, type in freebie, or check out their categories.
A lot of the artists showcase their art that is both free and for sale. If you can afford it, go ahead and buy those beautiful graphics, I'm pretty sure they're worth it. But if you're a cheapskate like me, then opt for the freebie.
I usually download and use it for myself. Little layouts for my kids, etc.
Right now, I'm trying to work on a souvenir for a friend who's getting married. Will be posting it here, to see and get your vote. Or not, to keep the event private. I'm designing it as a photomagnet. Just a few pieces, it will act as my wedding gift. She plans to give it to her principal sponsors.
